poetry

Word Bath is a new collection of poems to read tucked in that small corner of the room, nestled in a favorite chair, at the end of a long day. A departure from the heart-wrenching variety of verse, it's a short, sweet walk through the mind of a writer as she puts pen to paper and finds simple joys in the wonder of words.

Three brief chapters explore almost every mood but melancholy. Hoping to give readers a taste of something more in their poetry, "Not About Love," "Not About Loss," and "Not About Lemons" are journies that range from hopeful, to lovestruck, and just plain silly.

Any reader looking for an alternative to deep-cuts, but also a thoughtful love letter to poetics will enjoy Word Bath.

Book cover for Our Galaxy Publishing's Venus Rising anthology of short stories and written works by women.

short fiction

Our Galaxy Publishing presents a noteworthy, multi-genre recount of lessons and lore from over 50 influential women writers breaking barriers and amplifying their voices collectively. When a Venus woman rises, she is in power to express herself. She is honing her passion, desires, and truth, ever-changing and evolving. A woman rising in Venus controls her narrative, telling stories to communicate her truth, breathing life into the values that unite her with other transcending women.

The stories of these women speak to the beauty and pain, the guts and glory, the thriving and striving of all it means to be in this embodiment. Venus Rising is an anthological collection of inspiring women writers who shine a light on their inner verities and lay their wounds bare for us all. Enter their world, see through their eyes, and rise like Goddess Venus herself.”

I have two short stories featured in this collection:

“My Last Husband”

A short story about a woman with memory loss attempting to establish a relationship her current husband and escape the residual mental abuses of her first.

“The Barely There Bear.”

A mother/daughter vignette which won Best Prose Performance Piece in University of Leicester's (UK) 2017 Creative Writing Varsity competition.

Playscripts

The Play is a new work by Kassie Duke. The action surrounds a set of casual theater-goers: an older couple set in their ways, their son and his strained relationship with a young woman from his past, a husband and wife searching for common ground, and an unsatisfied and romantically challenged theater usher.

In an single evening, their own personal conflicts take center stage in a telling presentation which shows, often – there’s drama in the everyday.
